A Promo to the Past

A Promo to the Past
If you've ever played LoTZ: Majora's Mask, you should be no stranger to the Razor Sword. Sleekly designed to look bad ass, it's always been the awkward middle child on your way to getting the endgame sword, the Great Fairy Sword.

After 100 strikes it dulls out and reverts back to the Kokiri Sword. Going through the trouble of making so much artwork for the sword only for it to be a stepping stone to a better but unimpressive looking sword.

Why was this awesome looking sword so heavily promoted then? It might have been reasonable had the sword been a secondary permanent upgrade.

It's funny because for the new remake Majora's Mask Nintendo seems to be doing the same thing again. The picture above is official promo art for both the original and the 2015 remake due out in February.Such a shame, the only other time you get to use this sword isn't even a first party game.
Soul Calibur II included the razor sword as an additional weapon to use for Link. Hilariously enough, it's pretty crippling to use. While your attack increased, your range suffered and you took chip damage, thus, making you spring for another weapon eventually.

It seems even Namco took a "stab" at this cool looking blade. Hah, get it? Stab? Sword? Haha! No? Okay. In any case, there are glitches out there to permanently keep the razor sword with it breaking, although it retains the form of the kokiri sword. It's a curious glitch and worth checking out, at least.

Hyrule Warriors poses a new hope for the quirky blade. The new Majora's Mask DLC brings Young Link equipped with the kokiri sword. Here's hoping we can use the razor sword as a level 2 upgrade and not the Great Fairy Sword!

I do one day hope to get a replica of that sword for myself. One that won't break, or turn back into kitchen knife if I so much as drop it.
